TERMINATOR 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Terminator 2:JUDGMENT DAY is the exciting sci-fi sequel to the original film, The Terminator. Once again the evil tyrannical supercomputers teleport a cyborg assassin, T-1000 to try again to kill Sarah Conner's 10 year old son, John. Luckily, the rebels in the future who are fighting against the supercomputers, have re-programed the original Terminator to be a protector, not a killer, and send him back to protect young John from T-1000. This results in two humanoid robots;(one good, one evil), battling it out to decide the future of humanity, that hangs on whether young John Conner lives or dies.
Director James Cameron's, "Terminator 2: Judgment
Day," is a spectacular followup to the original "Terminator."
Promotional Lines: "Same Make. Same Model. New Mission." "This time there are two"
This heart-pumping sequel takes place in 1991, and Sara Conner's child, John Conner, (Edward Furlong), is now 10 years old, a tough kid who is living in a foster care situation, because his mother has been committed to a mental institution because of her "delusions." The evil machines in the future try to change their circumstances that they find themselves in, by once again trying to kill this young man who is destined to lead a revolt against their evil empire. They send a new and improved, shape-shifting cyborg; model T-1000, to do the deed.
Luckily for young John, the rebels send back a cyborg robot of their own, (Arnold), to protect him, which happens to be the same model and make of the original T 800 cyborg robot sent to kill his mother the first time by the evil ones; Only this time the cyborg robot is programmed to protect.
In a change of pace, Arnold is convincing as the good guy protector robot this time, with his muscular body, grim expressions, and great mechanical walk.
Linda Hamilton as Sara Conner, is even better
here than in the original "Terminator." She pumped
up her body in preparation for this role, and it helps to make
her tough girl performance credible.
A favorite scene shows the bad terminator cyborg wildly driving a truck while chasing big Arnold and young John on a motorcycle. Arnold had arrived just in time to keep John from the clutches of the T-1000, but boy did they have a wild ride.
Arnold and John then proceed to bust Sarah (Linda Hamilton) out of the mental hospital, two steps ahead of everyone's favorite bad guy, the unrelenting T-1000 cyborg, who does his best to terrorize the hospital staff.
The special effects were quite enjoyable. During another exciting action sequence, the bad T-1000 cyborg is melted into drops of molten metal in a terrific fire. These melted metal droplets run together to reform into the bad cyborg once again. Being melted was only a momentary inconvenience, it seems.
This nasty T-1000 cyborg can also turn itself into likenesses of the humans around him. This cunning cyborg finds young John's foster home, kills the foster mother, and turns himself into a likeness of her, and then lays in wait for young John to come home.
Still another favorite scene is the climactic battle between the cyborg robots, (Arnold and Patrick). It has an intensity and razzle dazzle rarely seen in contemporary action films.
"T 2" is a fast paced, action-packed ride from beginning to end. The great music helps underscore the film's dynamic forward momentum.
