ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Irving Thalberg (1899-1936) was considered MGM's boy wonder
of the early thirties. He was married to actress Norma Shearer.
He was responsible for many films, including: MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY
and ROMEO AND JULIET. He also hired the Marx Brothers.
NOTES & TRIVA
MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY was made from the Charles Nordhoff-James
Hall novel, which was based on the 1787 mutiny.
Charles Laughton, Clark Gable, and Franchot Tone all received Oscar
nominations. It was the only time three actors in a single film
were all contestants for the same Oscar.
Remade in 1962 with Marlon Brando.
1985's THE BOUNTY was also based on the same story.
