ABOUT THE PRODUCER
The legendary producer, David O. Selznick (1902-1965), produced
two films that won the Best Picture Oscar: GONE WITH THE WIND and
REBECCA.
He started as a writer, and quickly became an independent producer
working first at RKO, then at MGM, and in 1936 he formed Selznick
International Pictures.
Selznick's other works include: VIVA VILLA, DAVID COPPERFIELD, A
TALE OF TWO CITIES, A STAR IS BORN, THE PRISONER OF ZENDA, INTERMEZZO,
DUEL IN THE SUN, and A FAREWELL TO ARMS.
NOTES & TRIVA
This was Hitchcock's first American Film and his only film to
win Best Picture.
With REBECCA, producer David O. Selznick now had two Best Picture
Oscars in a row.
REBECCA was based on Daphne DuMaurier's suspense novel and the producer
(Selznick) insisted that the film include famous lines from the
novel.
George Barnes received an Oscar for best B&W Cinematography.
