DUMB AND DUMBER (1994) - PG13

Harry and Llyod are quite possibly the dumbest human beings on the planet..Making rent as a limo driver, Lloyd finds himself smitten, and thus morally obligated of course, to return a brief case beautiful woman "accidentally" drops on the way to the airport. Unware of the current political predicament Mary is currently in, the two men foolishly claim the suitcase and set out to Aspen, Coloradoto return her lost treasure. But when Lloyd and Harry discover the inner contents of the case before arriving in Aspen, will their good hearts rule out their, perhaps, more human emotion: greed? As Harry and Lloyd battle their inner conscience, many a gangster, local official, and others are in hot pursuit of this "dumb and dumber" duo and their covetous briefcase.

Director Peter Farrelly's DUMB AND DUMBER is a hilarious, if sometimes EXTREMELY crude, comedy laugh fest.

The cast includes: Peter Farrelly, Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Lauren Holly, Teri Garr, Karen Duffy, Mike Starr, Charles Rocket, Victoria Rowell, Cam Neely, and Felton Perry.

Promotional Lines:

"For Harry and Lloyd every day is a no-brainer." "It's a high-speed, low-brow romp through a film that would herald in a new era in comedies."

The basic story involves a cross country trip, by two good hearted but REALLY dumb friends, Lloyd (Jim Carrey) and Harry (Jeff Daniels) to return a briefcase full of cash to its rightful owner, a lovely young woman, Mary (Lauren Holly) who left the cash behind in a suitcase in the airport terminal, on her way to Aspen, Colorado. Unknown to these two, the suitcase full of money was a ransom pay off for her kidnapped husband. As they had both lost their jobs, and were about to be evicted, they decide to back up and move to Aspen to return the money to Mary. with unsavory characters on their trail.

Along the way to Colorado, they encounter good guys, bad guys, various mishaps and odd means of transportation. They finally arrive in Aspen, and troubles galore await our mentally challenged wanna-be heroes, as they wind up spending the money, and compete for Mary's affection, which entangles them in Mary's problems with some scary characters and members of law enforcement as well.

The laugh-out-loud script was written by Peter Farrelly & Bennett Yellin & Bobby Farrelly, which is filled with silly, but good potty and physical humor, where gags are "quickly fired" into the silly storyline. It's " is all about dumb humor."

The combination of great direction by Peter Farrelly, a silly screenplay, and two gifted comedic stars make this film a comedic classic, on the low brow, banal side.

Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey together are brilliantly convincing as the two good-hearted idiots, who have great screen chemistry, and comic timing and delivery of the dumb jokes, that make the film very funny, mindless comedy. Both Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey have proven that they have a wide range of ability, playing a wide range of parts in their various movie roles.

My favorite scenes take place when Carrey and Daniels reach Aspen. These two fit in so poorly into the posh, upper crust, yuppie environment that they provide classic, "fish out of water" comedy sequences.

Lauren Holly is convincing as a lady in a lot of trouble, with only the two dumbest guys in Colorado to help her.

This is the film where Carrey first met Lauren Holly, and romantic sparks flew. They've had an on and off relationship since, got married, but got divorced in 1997.

This is one movie that's very well photographed, particularly the gorgeous Aspen, Colorado locations. Mark Irwin was the Director of Photography, who also did the cinematography for "Passenger 57," "There's Something About Mary," "10 Things I Hate for You," and "Me, Myself and Irene."

Rated PG-13 - For crude and sexual humor, and some language. Not reccommended for family viewing. If you don't appreciate gross out/bathroom or dumb humor, or crude language, like 'boner', you may want to steer clear of "Dumb and Dumber."

If you enjoyed DUMB AND DUMBER you might like BILL & TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE, AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME, EASY MONEY, ACE VENTURA, PET DETECTIVE, IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD, THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, WAYNE'S WORLD, KINGPIN, and CADDYSHACK.
