The setting is sometime in the near future after the polar caps have melted, with the new ocean levels having drowned all of the world's coastal cities. After managing to survive the tragedy the human race flourishes amidst the interiors of their continents. Eventually they create mechas, human-representative robots, whose purpose is akin to indentured servants. When one company builds the first mecha to have feelings, David, a grief stricken Monica brings him home to live in substitute of their "cryo-static" son. But when Monica’s real son returns home after being cured, David's life is dramatically altered. This Pinocchio-esque tale takes on a futuristic tale of one boy's attempt to earn his mother's love.
