Wife (1947)
When Bishop Henry Brougham begins to pour his heart and soul into plans for a new cathedral church he begins to lose sight of what's important in life; his family and his faith. When the angelic Dudley enters the scene to help, rather than think him a saint, Henry begins to suspect that Dudley is trying to become his replacement as both the new man of God and the family man back at his home. The cast includes: Cary Grant, Loretta Young, James Gleason, Monty Wooley, David Niven, Gladys Cooper, and Elsa Lanchester. THE BISHOP'S WIFE was nominated for the Best Picture award.
