When Fort Humboldt breaks out with a plague, the U.S. Army sends a train with medical supplies and a military unit to head through the Rocky Mountains to the ailing town. With a priest, doctor, governor, and a U.S. Marshall aboard, things should run smoothly. But it seems that prisoner John Deakin has a more devious plan in mind.
