Bye Bye Birdie (1963 - G) A lively musical that features Conrad Birdie as an iconic 60's Rock'N'Roll star that has just been drafted for the war. Meanwhile songwriter Albert aspires to get Conrad on the Ed Sullivan show where he will kiss a girl goodbye. If Albert can get Conrad to do as such he hopes it will help himself out with his plans with girlfriend Rosie who, coincidentally, Albert's mother desperately tries to wish away. Still, high school sweethearts Kim and Hugo come into play in the plot which is mainly centered in Sweet Apple, Ohio. The cast includes: Janet Leigh, Ann-Margret, Dick Van Dyke, Maureen Stapleton, Paul Lynde, Jesse Pearson, Bobby Rydell, Mary LaRoche, Robert Paige, Michael Evans, and Ed Sullivan.Written by: Michael Stewart (play) and Irving Brecher (screenplay).
