Escape From New York (1981 - R)

Set in the future*, 1988, after a terrorist crashes and captures the U.S. President from his private jet; Air Force One, former war vet/hero turned condemned criminal is offered a pardon in exchange for undertaking the deadly assignment of rescuing the U.S. President from the notorious Manhattan island prison.
