Full Metal Jacket (1987 - R)

A bi-segmental perspective of the military's philosophies on the Vietnam War and its Marine troops. The film commences by documenting the perils of a platoon's training regimen lead by Sergeant Hartman. Hartman's grueling training and punishment tactics are extorted on his men as they prepare for war. The second part of the film narrows the perspective to Joker's psyche whereby, having moved from pre-war training to the real thing, the audience is exposed to the motives of one soldier and his interactions with his troop, his surroundings, and his enemy at the Tet offensive in Vietnam.

The cast includes: Matthew Modine, Arliss Howard, Adam Baldwin, Kevyn Major Howard, Ed O'Ross, R. Lee Ermey, Vincent D'Onofrio, Dorian Harewood, and John Terry.
