I Am Sam (2001) - PG13

Sam Dawson is a mentally-handicapped man who, after an abrupt relationship with a homeless woman, finds himself an inept father of his rather intelligent seven-year old daughter Lucy Diamond, named after his favorite Beatles song. But authorities soon take Lucy away from her father, claiming him to be an illegitimate parent, after Lucy resists furthering her education for fear of outsmarting her dad. It isn't until the once brash lawyer Rita Harrison has a change of heart and takes Sam's case pro bono that Sam stands a chance at winning back the one true love of his life; sweet little Lucy.
