The Killing Fields (1984) - R

New York Times journalist Syseny Schanberg works with local rep Dith Pran to uncover the tragedy and madness of the civil war in Cambodia. After American forces leave, Pran stays behind but sends his family to safety with the troops. Together Schanberg and Pran continue to cover the event, but when the Khmer Rouge gets involved, it won't be as easy for native Pran to leave the danger with his American counterpart Schanberg.

The cast includes: Sam Waterson, John Malkovich, Haing S. Ngor, Julian Sands, Craig T. Nelson, Spalding Gray, Bill Paterson, and Athol Fugard.

THE KILLING FIELDS was nominated for the Best Picture award.
