Probationary firefighter Jack Morrison slowly earns his mark as a veteran at his fire station in Baltimore while under the authority of Chief Mike Kennedy.. But all of his hard work and sacrifice have caused trouble at home. When Morrison responds to the largest blaze of his career he becomes trapped inside a 20-story building inferno. As the situation turns dire Jack is suddenly left to reflect on his life; a life which is now in the hands of his mentor Chief Kennedy.
