It's 1903 and St. Louis' Smith family has four beautiful young daughters coming of age. Seventeen year old Esther is smitten with the new neighbor John, but her affections might be stifled when the Smith's learn of their fathers transfer to a position in New York. With only memories of St. Louis and its Fair in site, the Smith's girls try to cope with their last remaining days in their hometown.
