Melvin and Howard (1980)

This is based on the "possibly true" story of Melvin Dunbar: a nice guy overall, but a completely unlucky.  Unable to keep a job or hold a stable social life, it isn’t until Melvin meets a precarious old man by the alias "Howard Hughes," the notoriously eccentric millionaire, that his life begins to take a sudden change.  When Hughes dies, Melvin is mailed a copy of his will, which allegedly left him a portion of the former Hughes estate! Melvin's sudden change in luck promises many an interesting adventure thereafter.
