So as to quiet his nagging wife, Lenny adopts a little boy who proves to possess rather advanced intellectual abilities throughout his adolescence. Determined to find the boy's real mother, Lenny sets out on a journey that ends at the doorstep of prostitute/porn star Linda Ash. Lenny is nearly devastated when he learns that this lowly and quite unintelligent woman is the biological mother of his adopted son. Additionally, the film integrates the vignette of the Oedipal complex into the plot.
