Mildred Pierce's husband has just abandoned his family for his mistress. Veda, her eldest daughter, is constantly hounding Mildred about money and after a series of events Veda is exiled from the home. But when Mildred finds Veda living the cheap life she begs her to come back, with Veda agreeing to so long as a life of luxury awaits. Mildred marries her now-lover and benefactor Monte only to discover Monte and Veda engaging in an affair when Monte sells her business out from under her. But what really happens when Mildred takes matters into her own hands?
