Missing (1982)

Based on a true story. When American father, Ed Horman, travels to South America in search of his missing journalist son, he brings hisdaughter-in-law, Beth, in tail, hoping to navigate the murky political waters with a friend. Along the way, the two work through the bureaucratic B.S. and political intrigue surrounding the missing journalist, only to discover that, perhaps, their own government isn't letting them in on the "real" story.

The cast includes: Sissy Spacek, Jack Lemmon, Joe Regalbuto, Melanie Mayron, John Shea, David Clennon, Charles Cioffi, and Richard Venture.
