Mr. Holland's Opus (1995)

In this moving and emotional drama, Richard Dreyfuss plays Glenn Holland, an aspiring composer who took what was supposed to be just a temporary day job as a high school music teacher in 1965. As the decades  pass and generations of students draw inspiration from his teaching, Holland must come to terms with the purpose of his life while his dreamed-of composition remains unwritten. 

The cast includes: Richard Dreyfuss, William H. Macy, Jay Thomas, and Olympia Dukakis.
