Name of the Rose (Name der Rose, Der - 1986) - R

The year is circa 1327 and the monks are convinced the apocalypse is approaching after a death in the Benedictine Abbey. Enter respected Franciscan monk William of Baskerville who is requested to solve the mystery behind the monk's untimely death. With more and more deaths taking place during the investigation, and the Franciscan Order pushing the Catholic church to rid itself of its excessive riches, the Abbey nervously remains on standby guarding his secret. When the Holy Inquisition finally takes authority in the investigation, monk William and his apprentice must work quickly to prove the innocence of the wrongly accused while avoiding the fierceness of the Holy Inquisitor.
