The Neverending Story (1984) With the help of an old book shop proprietor and an avid curiosity for wild tales, the young Bastian's visit to an old book shop forever changes his life when the old man shows him an ancient storybook known to possess some sort of "power," though what that power is exactly remains to be determined. As Bastian heads home with the pilfered property, he begins to read the tale--appropriately enough, in an attic, at night, during a storm--when, all of a sudden, he finds himself transported into the mythical land, Fantasia, of the wild tales. But before Bastian can escape back to the real world, however, he must help the world save itself from certain destruction of which he is now inevitably a part of.
