Ninotchka (1939)

As soon as a trio of Soviet emissaries arrives in Paris to sell jewelry for their government the men become entangled in a multitude of capital snares. Formerly the jewel owner, Grand Duchess Swana sends her playboy ally Leon d'Algout to meddle with the transaction of stolen jewels. But Leon is sidetracked by Nina Ivanovna, the emissaries - new replacement, and suddenly the taboo romance provokes even further complication for the fated jewels.

The cast includes: Greta Garbo, Sig Ruman, Ina Claire, Melvyn Douglas, Bela Lugosi, Felix Bressart, and Alexander Granach.

In 1939 NINOTCHKA was nominated for the Best Picture award.
