Father and daughter Norman and Chelsea Thayer haven't always seen eye-to-eye. But when Norman and wife Ethel Thayer retire to their summer cottage on Golden Pond, daughter Chelsea thinks it imperative to be their for her father's birthday. Taking full advantage of a baby-sitting opportunity, Chelsea and her fiancé split to Europe the next day, leaving behind the fiancé's son. A married Chelsea returns from Europe to find her stepson happy at Golden Pond with his stepparents, leaving her to decide whether its time to reconcile her past. The cast includes: Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Doug McKeon, William Lanteau, Dabney Coleman, and Christopher Rydell. ON GOLDEN POND was nominated for the Best Picture award.
