Payback (1999)

It's betrayal and badness everywhere you look in this action thriller starring Mel Gibson, a thief double-crossed by his partner and his wife after they rob a Chinese gang of $140,000. Shot in the back and left for dead, Gibson recovers and goes on a quest for the $70,000 he considers rightfully his. Revenge and retribution are the names of the game, with Gibson the hard-edged epitome of a kind of perverse principle.
