Mort Rainey is a writer suffering from more than just writer's block. After a recent discovery of his wife's infidelity, Mort has retreated to the mountains where he spends his days battling writer's block and depression via the company of a blind dog and a cloud of smoke. After a Southern stranger pays Mort a visit to accuse him of plagiarism for a work Mort has already published, an uncanny set of events ensue endangering the lives of Rainey, his ex-wife and her new boyfriend. With the help of Detective Dutton Mort hopes to solve the mystery behind "Shoot-her McGavin". The cast includes: Johnny Depp, Maria Bello, John Torturo, Len Cariou, Timothy Hutton, Charles S.
