Tess (1979) - PG
Based on the Hardy novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles, Tess tells a story about how a peasant farmer suddenly discovers he is of the prestigious d'Urberville family line and may possibly the last of the line. To claim his inheritances he sends his daughter Tess to check on a family named d'Urberville living in a town about a day's ride away. Upon meeting his breathtaking "cousin", Alec d'Urberville is only too happy to show her the family house and seduce her in the process. As chance would have it, Alec is not of the illustrious d'Urberville name, but has rather purchase his coat of arms. Returning home pregnant, Tess is faced with a world of rejection, illusion, humiliation, and the quest to find her true love Angel.
