Alamo (1960) Set in 1836, the film features the infamous confrontation between Mexican Army General Santa Anna and U.S. General Sam Huston in attempt to claim the Texan territory. In the meantime Colonel William Travis has been assigned to defend a small mission on the Mexican’s route to Texas. Joining the American brigade are the famous Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett. But as the situation goes from dire to desperate it appears the Americans may have to decide whether or not saving the mission is really worth the lives of innocence people. The cast includes: John Wayne, Richard Widmark, Laurence Harvey, Patrick Wayne, Frankie Avalon, Linda Cristal, Joan O'Brien, and Chill Wills. THE ALAMO was nominated for the Best Picture award.
