The Field (1990)

Set in western Ireland in the 1930s, The Field tells the story of a battle between two men over a parcel of land. One of them, the gutsy peasant Bull McCabe (Richard Harris), has rented and worked it for many years, helped by his retarded son. The other, a prosperous Irish-American developer (Tom Berenger), wants to strip-mine it. Who will the elderly owner of the land sell it to? And to what lengths will a person go to own that which they feel entitled to?
