Ambulance-chasing alcoholic lawyer Frank Galvin has hit rock bottom. But when former associate Mickey Morrissey brings up an obligatory medical malpractice suit with parties willing to settle out of court, Galvin is forced to undertake his case in a sorry attempt to fulfill his legal obligations. After blowing through the preliminaries Galvin's conscience decides maybe the case should go to the courts so as to not only restore hi reputation as a lawyer, but also to get a decent settlement for his victimized clients.

The cast includes: Milo O'Shea, Paul Newman, Charlotte Rampling, James Mason, Jack Warden, Lindsay Crouse, Ed Binns, Roxanne Hart, and Julie Bovasso.
