Stationed on Martinique Island, Harry Morgan and his alcoholic partner Eddie head a boat now available for hire. But with WWII surrounding their 'paradise' business is slower than usual. After a payment snafu emerges between a customer and "Morgan & Co.", Harry and Eddie are in want of cash and surrender to the prospects of getting involved with the war efforts by helping the resistance stow a fugitive on the island. Meanwhile Morgan’s rocky relationship with Marie "Slim" Browning, a sultry swinger and infamous resistance supporter, complicates the boys' precarious situation.
