Retelling the first major battle of the Vietnam War, "We Were Soldiers" narrates the events of the fight at the 'Valley of Death' near landing zone X-Ray, where Lt. Colonel Hal Moore and 400 of his elite combat men were surrounded by thousands of Vietnam soldiers. With the ensuing battle standing as one of the most detrimental in U.S. history, the film takes a poignantly personal note by depicting the psychological struggle of dealing with the war both on the battlefield, and back home, where loved ones go to bed lonely at night, only to wake with a death notice dropped at their doors. The cast includes: Mel Gibson, Madeline Stowe, Sam Elliott, Greg Kinnear, Keri Russell, Barry Pepper, Chris Klein, Don Duong, Ryan Hurst, and Marc Blucas. Directed by: Randall Wallace.
