DAY FOR NIGHT (Nuit americaine, La) (1973)

An independent French filmmaker/ director, Ferrand, has his work cut out for him behind the scenes of his newest film project, " May I Introduce Pamela?" with not only the usual problems that can pop up in the course of film production, but also with the frailties, insecurities and peculiarities of his stars, which threaten to derail production itself.

The cast includes: Jacqueline Bisset, Valentia Cortese, Alexandra Stewart, Jean Pierre Aumont, Jean Champion, Jean Pierre Leaud, Francois Truffaut, David Markham, and Nathalie Baye.

Screenplay by: Jean-Louis Richard, Suzanne Schiffman and Francois Truffaut.

DAY FOR NIGHT won the Academy award for Best Foreign Film of 1973. Francois Truffaut was nominated for Best Director. This film also received Oscar nominations for the Best Original Screenplay and for Best Supporting Actress.
