Kirk becomes preoccupied with destroying a deadly cloud creature he first crossed paths with 11 years before.

This episode offers interesting insight into Kirk's past, via references to events that happened eleven years ago, when he was a lieutenant aboard a different starship. Stephen Brooks ("The F.B.I") offers strong support as Ensign Garrovick, who shares Kirk's obsession. The FX involving the alien vampire cloud are quite good.

SYNOPSIS...
On an alien world, Kirk and company encounter a deadly cloud creature. It turns out to be the same creature Kirk interacted with many years before.

Kirk becomes obsessed with destroying the creature. He feels responsible for the death of his captain and half his crew during the previous encounter.

Kirk acts as bait for the cloud creature which craves blood. The creature is destroyed.
