When the Enterprise arrives at an Omicron Ceti III, alien spores control Mr. Spock and other Enterprise crew members.

This episode features a rare love relationship between Mr. Spock and Leila. In this atypical episode, Spock, having been zapped by a plant, falls in love, smiles, and dangles from a tree. The object of Spock's love is the beautiful Leila (Jill Ireland). It's also fun to see Dr. McCoy become an old style Southern gentleman, including accent, under the spore's influence.

SYNOPSIS...
The Enterprise arrives at Omicron Ceti III. Since the planet has been bombarded with harmful radiation, they're surprised to find the planetary colonists alive and healthy.

On the planet's surface, Spock encounters a woman he used to know. When an alien plant shoots pods at him, he falls in love. Other crew people, including Dr. McCoy, are affected by the alien plants as well.

Aboard the Enterprise, Spock and Kirk battle. Spock comes to his senses, helping Kirk to rid the planet of its plant menace.
