Star Trek Review: IS THERE IN TRUTH NO BEAUTY?
Director Ralph Senensky's, "IS THERE IN TRUTH NO BEAUTY?," is a moving and poetic Sci-Fi tale. Senensky also Directed the classic Trek episodes: "Obsession" and "Return to Tomorrow", among many others.
Diana Muldaur ("Born Free" and "McQ") is fascinating, as Dr. Miranda Jones. She later gained fame both as Dennis Weaver's girlfriend on "McCloud", and, more recently, as a member of the firm, on "L.A. Law". Muldaur also played the ship's doctor, Katherine Pulaski, for one season, on "Star Trek: The Next Generation".
Muldaur's Dr. Jones bears a similarity to Counselor Troi, on "Star Trek: The Next Generation. Jones is a telepath, and Troi is a telepath and an empath.
"IS THERE IN TRUTH NO BEAUTY?" sports one of the most poetic titles of any of the Classic "Trek" episodes. The title both relates to the story's central premise, (a blind woman's love for an alien creature, whose sheer ugliness can drive you mad), as well as posing a philosophical statement in the form of a question. "Jeopardy's" Alex Trebek would be pleased.
The prop, containing the alien being, is weak. When it opens, it appears to be built crooked and made of a flimsy material.
"IS THERE IN TRUTH NO BEAUTY?" should be fairly watchable for many Sci-Fi viewers. Diana Muldaur fans should definitely dig this episode.
